The first for 2021 was a welcome BBQ at the Northern Campus. Students from both the north and north-west of the state attended. Activity days provide a time for students to catch up with friends, meet teachers and connect with the school in a physical nature.
Below are two reflections about the day from two of our Year 6 students.
My name is Liam, I am in Grade 6 this year. I don’t like going out that much, but I am so glad I went to the Activity Day.
There were lots of cool things to do. My favourite activity was building a tower that was taller than me to play marble run. I also spent a lot of my time on the school’s play equipment. The big spinning disc is the piece of equipment I played on the most.
It was good to meet some of the other kids in person. I also enjoyed seeing the teachers.
My name is Alice. I am also in Grade 6 this year with my twin brother.
I absolutely loved learning circus tricks, especially the juggling sticks. I did not give up until I beat them 😊
My other favourite activity was the “Egg-stranaut”. We had to create something that would protect our egg from cracking as it was dropped from a high height. Sadly, my egg did not survive but it was so much fun trying. I especially loved how egg-cited the teacher was at explaining the experiment to us. You can tell she really loves her job!
I also loved the activity where we had the opportunity to get to know every one a bit better. Meeting new people can be scary but this activity made it fun and not scary at all.
The food was amazing. Being a vegetarian, there were lots of options for me which I thought was very kind of the school to organise.
Probably the funniest part of the day was seeing Ben hoola-hoop. He is pretty good at it.
Liam and I were really sad when we had to go home, we were having so much fun. We cannot wait for the next one and we hope to see you there.
Thank you for a great time!
